Truckers traveling on the East Coast's highways say they're keeping an eye out for a suspect in the slaying of a woman whose car broke down on Interstate 88.
News of Thursday's murder of 48- year-old Diane L. Hoppert of Owego circulated quickly among area truckers via citizens band radio.
Carl Law tracked the conversations that crackled over his CB from his home in Harpursville. Many truckers were concerned that the brutal slaying would further tarnish the trucking industry's already muddied reputation, he said.
