Fed: Crean returns as shadow treasurer in Latham's new lineup
Former federal Labor leader SIMON CREAN has returned to the role of shadow treasurer
in a revamped opposition line-up unveiled by new leader MARK LATHAM.
Mr LATHAM's introduced a new portfolio of homeland security for ROBERT MCCLELLAND,
whose justice and legal affairs portfolio goes to immigration spokeswoman NICOLA ROXON.
Mr ROXON's spot is taken by STEPHEN SMITH, who returns to the frontbench after backing
KIM BEAZLEY in a failed leadership challenge against Mr CREAN in June.
Mr LATHAM's told reporters that he's putting together the best Labor team available.
He says having Mr CREAN as the shadow treasurer is good for the country and another
piece of bad news for Treasurer PETER COSTELLO.
Foreign affairs spokesman KEVIN RUDD gets the additional role of international security.
In other moves, KERRY O'BRIEN moves from primary industries to reconciliation and indigenous
affairs.
And former trade minister PETER COOK returns to the frontbench as Mr LATHAM'S parliamentary
secretary.
